September 2011
Welcome to Yorba Linda High School – Home of the “Mustangs”. This year we opened our doors to our very first senior class and a total of 1,760 students.
We have added twenty-three new members to our Yorba Linda High School team, including one additional counselor, a full time Choir and Photography teacher, Culinary Arts/ROP Career Pathways teacher and all levels of academic course work to prepare our seniors for graduation, college and careers. Several new classes include Advanced Placement Government/Economics, AP Statistics, AP Physics, AP English Literature and a full elective course program.
As we watch our school grow, I want to take a moment to congratulate last years freshmen, sophomores and juniors who participated in the California Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) exam. The Department of Education goal for this testing program is 800 or better for all schools. YLHS students scored an 872 on the Acadmic Performance Index (API) which places Yorba Linda High School as one of the top performing high schools in Orange County. We are very proud of our students and look forward to our current freshmen class, who will add their mark to the academic and co-curricular programs at YLHS.
Getting “connected” to one of our many programs at YLHS is key to student success and making the high school years a rewarding and successful experience. We hope everyone, students, staff and parents will “Run with the STAMPEDE” in establishing Yorba Linda High School programs that provide community Service, develop Teamwork, demonstrate Achievement, show Mastery for the task at hand, let our Passion shine everyday, use our Ethics and values to guide our daily decisions, Dedicate ourselves to be the best and always strive for Excellence.
Please take a moment to check out our website for updated staff, activities and the calendar of events scheduled for 2011-2012. Our website will help you with many of your questions and direct you to the staff member who can assist you with your YLHS experience.
Welcome to 2011-2012 and Go Mustangs!
