Class of 2017 - The Counseling Department Senior Survey of 397 students results:
*  57% (226) have enrolled in a four year college
*  48 UC schools
*  59 CSU schools
*  119 Private or out of state schools
*  40% (157) have enrolled in a two year college
*  39 Fullerton College
*  89 Santiago Canyon College
*  1% Trade/Tech Schools
*  1% Military
*  1 % Work/Undecided

Advanced Placement Exams - took place the first 2 weeks of May. YLHS administers 1055 AP exams to 478 students in the subject areas of Chemistry, Environmental Science, Computer Science A, Spanish, Physics 1, English Literature, Japanese, US Government, Chinese, US History, German, AP Studio Art, Biology, Physics C, Calculus AB & BC, French, English Language, Macroeconomics, Statistics, Human Geography and European History. Students who score a 3, 4 or 5 can earn college credit. A Big Thank to Jamie Jauch – Coordinator, AP teachers, Denise Ackland, Claudia Welch, Colleen Hayashi and custodial staff Fred Fonseca & Jose Vazquez for testing area set-up. This is a real team effort!!

Thank You PTSA - for a terrific Staff Appreciation Luncheon on May 3rd. Great food, great conversation and fun-fun- fun. PTSA Sue Westin & Raquel Quast coordinated the catered food by Jerry’s Mexicali Inc. and all the homemade desserts. Thank you Sue & Raquel.

CAASPP - California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress is in full swing. All of our juniors are taking the California Assessment in Language Arts and Mathematics. A Big Thank You to US History teachers for administering the Math assessment and our junior Language Arts teachers for the Language Arts part of the exam. Each subject area is administered during class time over a 4 day period. This very important state test assesses Yorba Linda’s instructional program and student comprehension of curriculum taught. Thank You to CAASPP coordinator Greg Kemp, Jamie Jauch & Kathy Rodieck for preparing the staff to administer the exam and our YL Passport to Success Program to recognize students’ attendance and participation in the exam.
