Principal's Weekly Update #173

Did You Hear? - Last Wednesday over 1,500 students and parents attended Pathways to the Future
presented by the PYLUSD counselors and held at El Dorado HS. Breakout sessions included: UC/CSU admissions, College 101, Scholarships, Military opportunities, Private Colleges, Financial Aid, Test Prep, UC via the Community College, 1st generation college students, 4-year high school plan, medical career pathways, Community College, College services for IEP/504, ROP opportunities, student panel, the new SAT, NCAA and Beyond the Books.

Richard McAlindin, Director of Executive Services sent the following message, “I wanted to say thank you for a job well done last night. Throughout the evening, I heard many positive comments from parents about the quality of the presentations. Many felt the information was thorough and well organized. While I wasn’t able to get to every breakout session, the ones I attended were impressive. You are truly experts at what you do. I watched several classrooms of engaged parents diligently taking notes and asking great questions. We talk a lot about the PYLUSD Advantage and how students in our district have so many programs and resources available to them. I would put the quality of their counselors at the top of that list. Having access to you is an advantage to the students you serve. You are doing great things for kids and I couldn’t be prouder.” Great job!

PYLUSD District Band Pageant – this Wednesday, November 5th from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Bradford stadium. This is a great opportunity for our Mustang Band and Guard to perform their parade and field show. All of the PYLUSD high schools will perform, along with middle school parade bands. See Bincins Garcia for tickets.

Career Day 2014 - This Thursday, November 6th, we are excited to have 48 community members on campus to talk with our students. PTSA has planned the day and invited our guests.
