Art Fundamentals (Period 6)

This is an introductory studio art course in art fundamentals. Students will use a variety of media to create meaningful, hands-on artworks that nurture personal growth and creative expression. Emphasis is on drawing and painting skills in two-dimensional pieces, however, some three-dimensional artworks will be created also. Focus is on artistic perception, creative expression, historical and cultural context and aesthetic valuing. Students will also connect and apply what is learned in art fundamentals to other art forms and subject areas and to careers. This course aligns with the California Visual and Performing Arts Standards, grades 9-12.
