Yorba Linda Academic Decathlon

Dear Interested Students and Parents:

Welcome to Yorba Linda High School's Academic Decathlon. We are a non-profit organization where our goals are to have our members academically, verbally, and socially achieve and excel. Academic Decathlon is a team competition wherein students match their intellects with students from other schools. Students are tested in 10 categories: Art, Economics, Essay, Interview, Language & Literature, Mathematics, Music, Science, Social Science, and Speech. YLHS' Academic Decathlon team initially competes at the county level in Orange County. We have two teams: the JV team (Freshman & Sophomores), Varsity (Juniors & Seniors). Within those teams, they are put into 3 divisions based on their GPA's: Honors (3.75-4.00), Scholastic (3.00-3.74), and Varsity (0.00-2.99). This unique aspect of Academic Decathlon allows students from all achievement levels to compete fairly within their own levels. This is the general structure of the Academic Decathlon team.

At YLHS, we have achieved beyond expectations since our inaugural year of 2011. Since then, we have obtained over 20 medals from our individual members. By earning awards and medals, members are able to use that achievement to their advantage for college applications and scholarships. We have members who have been accepted into prestigious schools like USC, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and more. Joining Academic Decathlon will certainly give you more rewards and benefits than can be expected. Join YLHS Academic Decathlon, hope to see you soon!

Sincerely,
Members of the YLHS Academic Decathlon
