PTA Advocacy

Dear Parents and Students,

As the YLHS PTSA Advocacy Chair, I will ensure that information flows bidirectionally.  Therefore, I would greatly appreciate any information or feedback from you regarding any school policies or state policies you are impacted by, whether positively or negatively.  Should there be any means to improve these policies, I will be happy to look into it for you and suggest a course of action.  Should it be something that will need to be escalated, I will send it to our PTSA district-level board and determine if the subject is a matter the PTSA can help advocate for or assist with.

Our PTSA Chapter, as you know, is part of the greater State and National PTA organizations which may or may not support your specific issue but they do share the mission to improve the education, health, and well-being of our students and to assist with making the lives of parents easier.  All that to say, if I can help you directly, I will and if not, I will at least be able to help guide you to where you can express your concerns or take action to request improvements, whether that be at our school or district level.  It doesn’t matter what side of what specific issue you are on because every parent has a powerful voice and you deserve to be heard.

When you think about it, we are very fortunate to have the highest-achieving public schools in the world within our school district.  We owe a debt of gratitude to the outstanding administrators, teachers, and staff that we have throughout our district but we also certainly didn’t become this successful without decades of involvement by our parents and students or without their being continuously vocal about how to make improvements, and we won’t remain at this highest-level if we become complacent.  There are always opportunities to improve so please feel free to be as involved in our schools as you can be.  At YLHS, we have an incredible PTSA Board this year and we hope to expand the Board Size every year as our membership numbers grow and more parents can become involved in the detailed planning of our various activities, events, and objectives.

If you want to do more, please let us know and we will help you to get more involved because your involvement is what can bring us to the next level of success.  Never give anything less than everything you have because we only live this life once and every person is charged with living it well in a way that gives back to others, including the generations that follow us.  Whether you are an involved volunteer in the PTSA, Athletic Booster Clubs, Classroom Activities, Office Assistance, Fundraising Activities or the like, thank you for giving your time to better our students in a way that sets the groundwork for their future successes in life.

Go Mustangs!
