YLHS Staff - A Big Thank You from School Board Members, Carrie Buck and Judi Carmona. During their visit, they had the opportunity to talk with staff and see all the exciting activities that engage and connect students to YLHS. They want to come back and see more!!

– German Language National Honor Society - Advisors Sissi Mueller and Christine Collins recognized and inducted 36 YLHS students into the German NHS on Wednesday, during a presentation in the library. Congratulations to the following students:

Our Visual and Performing Arts have been busy! - YLHS Vocal Program took 3rd place in the 42nd Annual Fullerton College Jazz Festival – Vocal Division
High School Jazz.

YLHS Symphonic Band received a unanimous Superior rating at the SCSBOA Festival – the only high
school band to get unanimous Superior ratings.

YLHS Jazz 1 Band/Combo received consecutive Superior ratings and a 3rd place finish at the Fullerton
Jazz Festival.

YLHS Color Guard has competed in four competitions with a top five finish in each competition.

Three YLHS Art students received Honorable mention awards from the 2014 Placentia Art Association:
Rayah Shapiro – Plaster/Acrylic, Katie Lee – Pen/Ink/Water Color and Natalie Samaniego – oil.

YLHS Art Department is pleased to have several winners in the “Exposed – The Road We Traveled”
high school art contest. This annual event is sponsored by the Yorba Linda Public Library, Friends of the Yorba Linda Public Library, the Yorba Linda Arts Alliance and the National Endowment for the Arts. Selected entries were on display for two weeks at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum where a culminating gala awards’ event was held. YLHS winners were: Kammi Koiniec (3rd for drawing), Veronica Sardina (3rd for painting), Easter Colvin (3rd for color photography), Kacie Ciano (2 honorable mentions for color photography and architectural photography) and Brittany Rose Bukamier (staff pick photography).
Congratulations to all of our Mustang artists, musicians and their teachers – Bincins Garcia, Carol Gilfoy, Phil Mortensen, Brent Hendry, Kelly Fritz, Carol Carson & Rich Cadra!!

Speaking of Art – ARTWORKS! Is Coming - The 19th Annual PYLUSD Exhibition of Student Art starts
April 2nd. It runs April 2, 3, & 4 – 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and April 7, 8 & 9 – 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, April 10 – 7:30 a.m. – noon at the PYLUSD Professional Development Academy (ESC) @ 4999 Casa Loma Ave. Try to stop by and see the student talent from YLHS and all the schools in the district. It’s a GREAT Exhibition!!

And – Last But Certainly Not Least!! - Don’t Miss the YLHS Spring Musical – “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” - which started last Thursday, but continues through this week with shows on April 3, 4 & 5 @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 5 a 2:00 matinee. This play is terrific and our students do an OUTSTANDING job of singing and acting. Congrats to director, Cathy Petz, and the cast!!
