AP Computer Science A (Period 6)

Course Description

Advanced Placement Computer Science A is a year long course. This course is designed for students with previous computer experience or a high interest level. Emphasis will be placed on Top Down programming, proper syntax, documentation methods, modular programming, Object Oriented Programming, use of language compilers, use of library functions, debugging techniques, case study programming, use of Java graphics package, etc. During May of each school year, students will have the opportunity to take the “Advanced Placement Computer Science A” exam for possible college credit. Students should have basic Algebra, abstract thinking, and logic skills to be successful in this course.
