Principal's Weekly Message #1

For 9-14-2009 to 9-18-2009

To the Staff:
CONGRATULATIONS on a terrific 1st week!! We opened our “gym” doors to 957 students on Tuesday, along with over 350 parents who wanted to see Yorba Linda HS in action. There were many positive comments, as there have been all week, along with our front page article in the OC Register on Wednesday. A special thank you to Jason Kaylor and his ASB for all their time planning our opening day. Thank you Jennifer, Lorri and Nancy for getting student locators, master schedule and last minute class changes done during our first week.

Many of you were here over the three day weekend and I think I saw everyone working on their classrooms starting August 24th – GREAT JOB!

A special thank you also goes to our terrific custodians, Fred, Jose and Oscar who gave up their three-day weekend to get us ready for opening day with desks, supplies and cleaning the campus. Our campus supervision joined into help when and wherever needed.

Last, but not least, we have a terrific secretarial staff who transitioned on Friday, August 28th, from the old to the new office in only two hours. They didn’t miss a parent phone call, email or teacher request.
Thank you one and all – this is a SPECIAL TEAM!

Class Presentations -  “The Do’s and Don’ts” will be Monday, September 14th and Tuesday, September 15th.  Jennifer and Jason will talk with every student regarding student expectations, activities and school programs/clubs.  Sophomores will report to the Forum (upper quad) during their Social Science class on Monday, while freshmen will meet on Tuesday, during Health/Career classes also in the forum.  Thank you Social Science and Health/Careers teachers for your class time.  These meetings are very important in communicating the standards and expectations for YLHS.

Make-up Picture Day – Tuesday, September 15 -  in the gym during periods 1 – 4.  Individual staff pictures will be taken at the same time.  Make sure to get your picture for our very first yearbook, along with the Yorba Linda High School staff picture board in the office.  We will be taking an ALL STAFF photo at a later date for our Legacy Wall in the main entrance.
