Principal's Weekly Update #27

YLHS Class Ring Ceremony – Our sophomore class students were invited to a presentation of their class rings they had ordered for the Class of 2012. Sophomore class President, Madison Carpenter, Vice President, Storm Nieto and Secretary/Treasurer, Clarissa Yang presided over the ceremony with special guest speaker, Kory Kierulff. Each student who attend was presented their class ring. Special thank you to Mike Martelli, (Josten’s), Jason Kaylor and Class of 2012 officers for this presentation.

National Honor Society (NHS) – under the direction of Carmen Nicholson, held our very 1st National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. 45 of our sophomores qualified for membership. Senior class member of NHS from Esperanza and El Dorado presented our sophomores with their recognition for excellence in academics, service, character and leadership. Campus Tour - Today is one of our scheduled community tours from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. We have had anywhere from six to eighteen in our previous tour groups.

Eighth Grade Round-up Night – Wednesday, April 14th is a very important evening presentation for our incoming freshman class. Approximately 450 new students will attend YLHS as freshmen in the fall. Our 8th Grade Parent night will introduce them to our PTSA, booster groups, clubs and activities, while providing them much needed information about registration and academics.
The Schedule for the evening is as follows:
6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Gym & Quad – Display tables for clubs, boosters, PTSA
7:00 – 7:15 p.m. Parents and students meet in the gym
7:15 – 8:15 p.m. Parents - meet with counselors in library or bandroom
7:15 – 8:15 p.m. Students – stay in gym with Mr. Kaylor and Link Crew
Campus will be open for parents and students to walk around, but classrooms will remain locked. Hope to see many of you there with your clubs and athletic programs.
