Principal's Weekly Update #32

Congratulations and thank you - to everyone for administering our very 1st STAR test. Jennifer and Diane, with “a little help from my friends” did a great job in preparing test materials. Jennifer said she only had 14 makeup tests to give! Everyone did a terrific job of making sure their students were here and focused on the exam. Jason and ASB handed out lunchtime prizes to students who placed their “STAR card” in the prize box.

Again, thank you for preparing your students and administering the test. All three days were very organized and students did “outwit – outlast – outscore” the 2010 STAR test.

AP Exams - were administered last Friday for European History. Our very 1st AP exam was taken by Sean Kanne – AP Computer Science – on Tuesday, May 4th.

Another big thank you to Jennifer for organizing and administering these exams. We are looking forward to our students’ scores and planning for the addition of the junior class AP exams in 2010-2011.

Modernization of North Campus – Here is the latest – June 21st the exterior work on building 100, 300, 400 and the 200/forum will start. They will demo the wood siding and stucco down to the framing and make each building look like the new campus exterior. Work on the exteriors will be completed by August 31. With completion of the exterior work, crews will move into the forum and 400 building to modernize lighting, flooring, ceilings, walls, heating/air, along with technology connections and install Promethean boards in the 400 building classrooms.

These rooms and the forum should be completed by the start of 2nd semester 2010-11. Crews will then move to the 300 building interior to complete the modernization project for the start of school in September 2011. The upper campus will be fenced off to student access in the fall except for Room 303, 304 and 306, which will be used for classes.

More updates to follow!
