Principal's Weely Update #55

Did you Hear? – Three YLHS students, Blair Becker, Supriya Buhpathy and Ronni Sardina, under the direction of Sarah Shay and Beth Mazurier, entered the Chapman College Holocaust contest. Each school can submit the work of three students consisting of extra prose, poetry or works of art. On March 4th, all three of our students, along with their teachers will be recognized and honored for participating in the contest. Blair Becker has been selected as a finalist in the contest and could receive a $500 prize and a trip to Washington D.C. to visit the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. The all-expenses paid trip includes her parents and her teacher. Good luck, Blair and thank you to Sarah Shay and Beth Mazurier for supporting this opportunity for our students.

You May Have Heard or Seen – that a new California State law requires all students to be vaccinated against Whooping Cough. This law requires that all students entering grades 7 – 12 provide proof of the booster shot before starting school in September. Kathy Rodieck is working with the district to make sure our students/parents are notified in plenty of time to get the required shot and paperwork. More information will be mailed out and posted on our website.

1st Semester – Great News – We had 519 students on the Honor Roll and 188 students on the Principal’s Honor Roll. Great job everyone!!
