Principal's Weekly Update #74

A Halloween Concert – Tonight in our forum theater the YLHS Orchestra, along with Esperanza HS Orchestra, under the Direction of Phil Mortensen and Kay Crask will present a “Halloween Concert” at 6:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to see our orchestra students perform before you go “trick or treating”!

Special Visitors – last Tuesday two of our PYLUSD School Board Members visited YLHS. Judi Carmona and Carrie Buck toured our campus and stopped in several of our classes to see the great things you are doing. At the end of the day prior to the school board meeting I received an email from Judi that started out, “YLHS is phenomenal”. Several of her quotes. . . “Your campus looks fantastic.” “The warm friendly staff you have in your office is great.” “What really made the visit special was seeing all the excellent teachers in action.” “I loved watching the energetic and enthusiastic teaching.”

A Big Thank you to Scott Mazurier and Valerie Steinbergs for taking their time to share our special collaboration model with Judi and Carrie, along with the drop in visits with Mrs. Atmadja, Mrs. St. Amant, Mr. Domene, Mr. Walls, Mrs. Fritz, Mr. Hendry, Mrs. Smith, Mr. Cadra, Mrs. Shay, Mr. Garcia, Ms. Maes, Ms. Petz, Mrs. Messick, Mrs. Runge and ASB.

Big Thank You to Shea Runge – and ASB for our very 1st “Homecoming” Week, assembly and dance. Over 800 students attended the dance in our gym. Shea and her team did a terrific job on her very 1st Homecoming.

Congratulations to Jeff Bailey - and the YLHS football team for their victory over Valencia!

Congratulations also to Bincins Garcia – and the Mustang Band and Guard for their 1st place at the Loara Parade. Drum Major Rachel was in the top five in the entire event! At the Field Tournament they received a 2nd place and a percussion sweepstake award!! This weekend they will be performing at the Sierra Vista HS tournament. Come out a support!! Way to go Mustang Band & Guard!
