Did you Hear? - Last Thursday evening, YLHS National Honor Society inducted 73 new members from the sophomore and junior classes. The evening’s presentation was hosted by Alyssa Freeland, Timon Kato, Jessica Welsh, Lila Blackwell and Patrick Morgan. The National Anthem was sung by Lila Blackwell The library was packed with proud parents and grandparents as each of our new members was recognized. A Big Thank You to advisor, Carmen Nicholson and all the staff members who helped with the set-up and programs. We also want to thank Jason Lee, Jungwoo Oh, Alisha Soares and Tyler Stevens for providing instrumental music for the program. Congratulations NHS 2011-2012!
Golden Seal Merit Diploma - for graduating seniors will be awarded to 122 members of our very 1st Graduation class. Students must have earned a scale score of 370 or above on 6 qualifying California Standard Tests which are administered under the California & Standardized Testing and reporting (STAR). A Big Thank You to Jennifer for researching and identifying all of our seniors who qualify. Congratulations to our seniors!!!
2012 Boys State Delegate Selections - have been completed. This year the American Legion Post interviewed 19 outstanding PYLUSD high school candidates. Four YLHS candidates scored in the top 11 and Joseph Malhas scored #1 of 19. He will be funded by the Post as our local delegate to the Boys State Competition. Congratulations Joseph and thank you to Peyton Pike for getting our students “connected.”
CIF (Winter) - Last week I inadvertently left Women’s Water Polo out. Congratulations to our Lady Mustangs for their great season and competing in the CIF Quarterfinals!
Sadie’s Hawkins Dance - was held last Friday for over 400 of our Mustang students!
