I, along with all of the YLHS staff, say “THANK YOU”!
PYLUSD School Board Community Recognition Night - will honor our very own Janis Heckel. Janis is our YLHS Advisor for tour PTSA Student Leadership group, which has grown from 30 to over 85 students. Under her direction our students have participated in community service projects, school event, leadership workshops, teacher appreciation activities and coordinated the annual Mustang Pride Day with over 200 students participating. In addition to her PTSA responsibilities, Mrs. Heckel is Men’s Basketball Booster Club Vice-President of Events, which plans Mustang Madness to start our basketball season. Congratulations, Janis and thank you for all your time to support our students!
STAR Testing this week – Check the Special Schedule for Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. Please remind your students to get a good night’s sleep and eat a good breakfast. We want all of our students to demonstrate “M”astery of the subject test. A Big Thank You to all of our departments for supporting our “Star Wars” theme and new “incentive” program.
Don’t forget - Senior Awards – Monday, May 21 (tonight) at 6:30 p.m. at the Yorba Linda Community Center – This will be a terrific evening to recognize all for the hard work our seniors have demonstrated in academics, fine and performing arts, athletics and community service. See you there!
P.S. Seniors that will be recognized have a meeting at noon today, Monday, in the gym.
2012-13 AP Classes/Staff – will have a meeting on Wednesday, May 23. This is a great opportunity for future AP students to hear about class expectations and required assignments. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. Please see the attached schedule. Big Thank You to our AP teachers for taking the time to meet with “next year’s” students and parents. This is another great evening of information and getting kids “connected”.
WASC Accreditation Letter - I hope you took the time to read the letter sent out last week regarding our one day visit A Big Thank You goes out to Jennifer and Dan for preparing for the visit, along with all the members of our staff that met with Dr. Stephenson. Great job!!
