Principal's Weekly Update #102

Back to School 2012-2013 – was attended by 1,021 parents. The following is a list of comments from our parents about, their experience: Great, Well-Prepared, Impressive, Enthusiastic, Very Informative, Wonderful Environment, Love School Spirit, Positive Energy, Excellent, Professionalism, Passionate, Excited, Organized, Motivating...

A couple my favorites:
“I hope my son takes advantage of all that is available to him.”
“We are new to PYLUSD and are glad we made the move.”
“Great Night – Teachers are a lot less scary in person than on the syllabus.”
THANK YOU!! - and many “thank you’s” from our parents for your energy and enthusiasm!
A Big Thank You to Joey, Jennifer, Terry, Shea, ASB, Fred and his crew, along with Kino, Noah and Bill for organizing this event and making sure everything is clean, safe and secure.

More Great News for YLHS – We just received the 2012 College Board Senior Profile Report for YLHS. SAT results for our 1st graduating Class of 2012 are:
Overall Scores      # of Test Takers      Critical Reading      Math      Writing
YLHS                            226                          531                  568          529
Statewide                   231,964                     495                   512          496
Nationwide               1,664,479                    496                   514          488

As you can see our seniors placed well above the state and national mean scores for the 2012 college-bound seniors.  Our seniors requested the SAT results be sent to over 45 colleges and universities. Several of the more popular are:  CSF, Cal Poly, UCSD, Chapman U., UCI, USC, CSLB, UCSB, UCLA, UC Berkeley.  Great job “everyone” for preparing our students for the next level in their education!!

Thought for the Week
