Principal's Weekly Update #114

Did you Hear?

1) YLHS AP Honors Night presentation last Wednesday had over 200 parents and students in attendance. A Big Thank You to the following staff members who made the evening a big success – Joey Davis, Jennifer Graves, Lorri Walls, Terry Kerans, Tiffany Ward (Science), Stacy Shube (Language Arts), Rey Lejano (Social Science), Dan Dupont (World Languages), Angelina Atmadja (Math), Dan Eliot (Computer Science), with special presentations by YLHS students, Cynthia Okamoto and Nate Klinkenberg. It is that time of year when we start looking at September 2013. “Time flies when you’re having fun.”

2) All 191 pages of our WASC report have gone to the printer. Thank you all for your help in preparing this important document. Also, we found out the names of the rest of our visiting committee. Along with our Chair who visited in December (retired Asst. Superintendent), there are four Assistant Principals, 1 Counselor and 1 teacher on our committee. March 17 – 20 will be a great chance to showcase the amazing things we do here at YLHS.

3) Yorba Linda and Esperanza Orchestras will be performing on Friday, January 25th @ 7:00 p.m. at the Charity Fundraiser Rock Concert presented by the American Soldier Network. The performance will be at Valencia HS Auditorium. Tickets are available from Orchestra students or @ www.ctsmusic.com.

4) Our very own “Kino” has been named one of the Nike Developmental Coaches of the Year. Kino will be honored at the 2013 Cal South’s Awards Banquet on February 16th. Cal South’s annual celebration honors the incredible accomplishments of its members and volunteers. Congratulations Kino!!!! (You will have to wear long pants!)

5) Three of our “Mustangs” have been chosen to participate in the annual Chapman College Holocaust Art and Writing Contest. They are Amy Lee (art), Andrew Lee (poetry) and Nathan Shube (prose). A Big Thank You to Beth Mazurier and Sarah Shay for providing and spearheading our student participation in this program AGAIN this year! Good luck Amy, Andrew and Nathan.
