Principal's Weekly Update #130

Congratulations to Mustang Softball & Coach Farrell - for their victory over Etiwanda on Thursday in the CIF quarterfinals. YLHS softball is 24-3 for the season and will play in the CIF semi-final game on Tuesday against Santiago/Corona High School. Good Luck to our Lady Mustang Softball Team!!

A Big Thank You to the Senior Awards Committee and Chairman, Bincins Garcia - for a terrific Senior Awards Program last Monday. We recognized over 200 seniors for earning $3,545,150 in scholarships and grants, Department Awards, 46 Silver Level Mustang Scholars, 6 seniors that earned an “A” in every class, our Salutatorian and Valedictorians. The “Mustang of the Year” was awarded to Makenna Morris. It was a great night to honor our 2013 Senior Class.

Prom 2013 - was a great success and lots of fun for 710 of our students. We even had several staff members testing out the dance floor before students arrived – fun, fun, fun! A Big Thank You to Shea Runge, ASB and the following list of team members who helped make all this happen for our students:

Don’t Forget - Our award winning Theater Arts Department will perform “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” on May 29 & 30 @ 7:00 p.m. and June 1st @ 2:00 & 7:00 p.m. Come out and see how talented our students are in the Theater Department!

Mustang Art Show – Mustang artists will display their work in the library starting Tuesday, May 28th with a reception from 6:30 – 800 p.m. and all day Wednesday in our library. Don’t miss the art work of our very talented visual art students!!

Did you Hear? – Joey only had to give STAR Make-up exams to 38 students this last week. Great job everyone in getting our students prepared and focused on the STAR Test.

A Big Thank You
- also goes out to our AP Teachers for Wednesday evening’s AP Night. This is a great way to get students and parents focused on next year’s expectations for these very challenging classes.

YLHS and Travis Ranch Big Jazz Concert – last Tuesday was “cool”! Our students performed with guest artists, Jeff Clayton and Stacy Harris. It was an evening filled with great music.
