YLHS begins Common Core Implementation

In general, the CCSS will prepare students for college and career. The main transition will be towards higher level thinking, reading and writing skills. Some specific examples of changes you are likely to see willl be in the area of math. The district has purchased specific Common Core bridge materials for math classes to help with this transition. These workbooks will be used on a daily basis in math classes like Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2.

The link on the web site has additional information. While these are new state standards, they have been adopted by 46 of the 50 states. Some of the links will take you to the California Department of Education web site, others may go to other states.
