Principal's Weekly Update #149

YLHS Presented AP/Honors Night - last Wednesday evening which was a huge success. Over 200
incoming 8th grade students (Class of 2018) and their parents attended the one hour presentation on our Advanced Placement and Honors level courses. A Big Thank You to staff members, Jesse Gomez-Science, Stacy Shube-Language Arts, Rey Lejano-Social Science, Dan Dupont-World Languages, Angelina Atmadja- Math, Dan Eliot-Technology and Brent Hendry-Visual Arts.

YLHS students, Eric Chiang and Raquel Buscaino, spoke about being a “Mustang”, taking AP classes and getting connected to all the opportunities we offer to get involved. This was a terrific event coordinated by our Student Services with handouts and a Power Point from Jamie, Lorri, Nancy, Peyton and Kim. It is very exciting to talk about all the great programs we offer our community. Again, thank you “one and all”!!

The next step for our incoming Class of 2018 will be the counselor visitations to our middle schools starting the week of March 25th and 8th Grade Round-up Night on April 9th.

Did You See? - The Register’s OC Varsity Arts section on Monday, January 20th? Kishan Patel was featured as he performed a sax solo at the Jazz Jam at Esperanza High School. It was a terrific article on PYLUSD and the instrumental Jazz programs offered at each of our high schools.

Very Important Week – February 3 – 7 – Breaking Down the Walls
– and realizing we are all here to respect and appreciate our differences and dreams. Everyone on campus will participate in the All School Assembly on Monday, February 3rd and then over 400 students and staff will participate in the week long activities and discussions to help establish an atmosphere of trust and openness for our students to get connected.
