Principal's Weekly Update #151

National Merit Scholarship Corporation - has determined which of the 16,000 semi-finalists named in September 2013 have met all the requirements to advance to “finalist” in the competition. All finalists will be considered for National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2014. Congratulations to: Eric Chiang and Paige Gulley!!

Did you Hear? - Mustang Athletics celebrated Collegiate National Signing Day on Wednesday, February 5th. Congratulation to: Taylor Schlener – UCLA, Aspen Potter – BYU, Paige Von Sprecken – USD, Mallory Cleveland – San Francisco State, Brad Johnson – Dominican University, Courtney Vaccher – Texas Tech and Missy Owens – Long Beach State. Good luck Mustangs as you had off to the next level of athletic competition!

Yorba Linda Star – February 13th edition has a great picture of our YL students that were recently in the Miss Yorba Linda/Placentia Pageant. Congrats again to: Emily Patterson – Miss Placentia, Kiannah Dole – Miss Yorba Linda Outstanding Teen, Scout Lepore – Court and Annelises Kiages (2013 graduate).

Yorba Linda Wrestling Wins Another CIF Title - Congrats again to Wrestling Coach Brian Fortenbaugh, his assistants Brain Ransom, Gabe Cueva and Mike Sprenger and the Mustang wrestling team for winning the CIF Duals. It is awesome to see their time and dedication be rewarded with another championship. The Mustangs completed one of the tests of true champions; they successfully defended their CIF SS Div. 5 Duals Championship at Irvine HS. They entered the meet as the top seed with a 1st round bye. The next round they defeated Beckman HS 47-24. Keeping their momentum going, they beat Santa Maria HS 55-12 setting up the championship match against 2nd seed Arroyo of El Monte They won a hard fought battle 29-27 completing
their quest for back-to-back titles. CONGRATS TO ALL!

2014-2015 Class Registration - continues February 18th, 19th and 20th. Counselors will be out in the
Academic Planning/Careers and Health classes to help guide our freshmen class prepare for the next school year. Thank you, Nick, Jeff, Forty, Tammy and Donna for helping with this process.
