Principal's Weekly Update #159

You Are Invited - PTSA Academic Mustang Awards Night is tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Yorba Linda Friends Church on Lakeview. Our YLHS PTSA will recognize 68 seniors, 65 juniors, 61 sophomores and 80 freshmen for maintaining a weighted gpa of 4.0 or higher. This is a terrific evening to honor our students for their hard work and dedication to academic excellence. The guest speaker is John C. Dalton, a PYLUSD graduate, USC degree in Business Administration and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is the co-founder of Certified Records Management. John lives in Yorba Linda with his wife and four children.

Did You See? – OC Register’s April 23rd edition recognized our very own Eric Chiang as – The Fantastic 4 – “He’s 17 – is said to possess raw skills and intelligence far beyond his years in engineering, physics and math.” The article talks about Eric’s excellence in academics, swimming and orchestra – first choair cellist. Congratulations Eric!

Did You See? – North Orange County ROP’s – Celebration of Success – award ceremony was held last Monday evening at City National Grove or Anaheim. YLHS student, Rebecca Stephenson, received recognition and awards for *Industry Sector Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation and *YLHS ROP Student of the Year. Congratulations, Rebecca! Great Job!

More Great News - National Merit Scholarship Corporation sent a list of 13 Mustangs that took the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT) and met the requirements to enter the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. “These high performers have shown outstanding academic potential.” Of the 1.5 million program entrants, each of these students is among the 50,000 highest-scoring participants who will be recognized in the fall of their senior year.
