Heartsaver First Aid course on Wed., January 28th from 6-8pm in the library.

· Heartsaver First Aid is an exciting course intended for individuals who have a duty to respond to a medical emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. This is also for lay persons that wish to know more about common medical emergencies and how to render aid while help is on the way. This would include teachers, childcare workers, fitness trainers, corporate workers, restaurant employees, lifeguards, coaches, parents, babysitters, and anyone who wants to learn how to give Basic First Aid.

· Heartsaver First Aid provides first responders and lay persons with training in basic first aid procedures—including the first aid skills recommended by OSHA. The course covers first aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, and environmental emergencies. Some of the topics include: recognition of emergency signs & symptoms, signs of concussions, chest pain for adults, stroke, diabetes, seizures, bleeding control, splinting & fractures, trauma prevention, heat/cold related injuries, stings/bites/snakes, first aid wound care, allergies & anaphylaxis, asthma, and anything else that can happen to a person pre-hospital!
