Principal's Weekly Update #189

Congratulations Yorba Linda Staff on a Terrific Week!

1st ) A Big Thank You to Jamie Jauch, Stacy Shube, Sarah Shay and Scott Mazurier for all their time and energy to prepare for our Gold Ribbon Award team visit. The Orange County Department of Ed team truly enjoyed every minute of their visit, meeting with our staff, students, parents and visiting classes. The team was very impressed with all the student work from each department in the evidence room. The team will forward their recommendation that Yorba Linda High School receive the award for our signature practice of Step-Up-To-Writing and collaborative model. All four members of the visiting team stated, “This is a special place.” Thank you everyone for your dedication and TEAM work! It is very true “working together WORKS!”

2
nd ) 8th Grade Parent Round-up Night 2015 was a huge success, starting with our programs and Booster Club Fair in the quad, to counselor presentations in the forum, library and band room. Over 700 students and parents attended their 1st official “Mustang” event for the class of 2019. A Big Thank You to Greg Kemp, Shea Runge, Lorri Walls, Nancy Coulter, Peyton Pike, Lisa Tully, Jeff Platt, office staff, custodians and all of our staff members who took the time to meet with parents and talk about electives offered at YLHS. It is a very exciting and energetic evening event. We are looking forward to another great class at YLHS.

Congratulations to our PTSA Honorary Service Award Winners for 2014-15
- Lisa Tully, Jamie Jauch, Shea Runge, Kino Oaxaca, Suzie Beatificato (parent), and Chick-fil-A (business partner). The students selected “Teacher of the Year” – Mike Moore. Mr. Moore is a founding member of the Yorba Linda High School staff in 2009, Social Science Department Chair, Women’s Basketball coach and the “go to guy” when you need “we can do that” support for any new ideas or programs. His first thought has always been, “what is best for the students”. Congratulations, Mr. Moore and all of our winners!!
