Dr. Domene to Visit – Wednesday, April 22nd @ 8:00 a.m. – Dr. Domene will be visiting campus and stopping by classrooms. He will try to visit every classroom! He also hosts a “cookie” break in our teacher’s lounge – so stop by at break and say “hi”!
This Week We Have Lots of GOOD News to Report – YLHS Gold Ribbon Award application and Exemplary Arts Education application have been validated by the visiting teams from the Orange County Department of Education and the California Department of Education. Both of our applications received very positive evaluations and we look forward to the committees’ recommendations for YLHS to receive the award from Tom Torlakson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction. The announcement for both awards is scheduled for mid-May.
3 Top Seniors for YLHS were honored at last Tuesday’s PYLUSD School Board Meeting. Congratulations to Miya Sheker, Thomas Kim and Roshni Patel. All three of our honorees have outstanding GPA’s, involvement in athletics, performing arts, academic competitions and hundreds of community service hours. They are terrific “Mustangs”!!
PYLUSD School Board also honored the following Mustangs:
• Yorba Linda High School wrestling senior heavyweight, Abe Ochoa, who was named to the OC Register’s All-Orange County wrestling team for 14-15. Ochoa won 5 titles, including the 8-school Century Conference, CIF and Masters. At state, he finished 6th. He also went on to complete in the HS National Wrestling Tournament – Congrats to Abe and Coach Fortenbaugh!
• Yorba Linda’s Orange County Academic Decathlon members Andrew Lee and Miya Sheker with Coach Gabby Stephenson – Congrats Mustangs!
• College Board National Hispanic Recognition program to Mustangs: Nathan Repasky, Nicholas St. Croix and Samantha Serna.
• YLHS National Merit Finalists: Kevin Chiang, Yusuf Khan and Sanam Mehta. They are the top ½ of 1% of seniors taking the PSAT during their junior year.
