Principal's Weekly Update #206

Homecoming 2015 – A Big Thank You to Shea Runge, Brent Hendry, Colleen Hayashi and ASB for our 2015 Homecoming Week Rally, halftime show and the dance on Saturday night. Friday was very exciting with the rally, Senior Recognition Night and the halftime ceremony for 2015 Homecoming king & Queen, along with a VERY exciting football against Foothill. Again, this was a real team effort!! Thank you!!! 
 
Congratulations Jeff Bailey and the assistant coaches for a terrific victory over Foothill - Good luck in the CIF play-offs! 

Congratulations to all of the YLHS Fall Sports - as they enter CIF play-offs this week. We have started the 15-16 school year off with another very impressive showing in all of our fall sports. Thanks for all your time and effort with these students athletes. Congrats to coach Shardad and the men’s water polo for defeating El Dorado and clinching another league title. This will be the 4th year in a row that they have earned the league championship! Congrats to women’s tennis for their 5th league title in a row. Unbelievable! Great job Rey and
Kevin!! And congratulations to our most recent head coach addition, Vidal Arista and the men’s cross country team for their 2nd league title. Women’s Volleyball finished 2nd – congrats to Jaclyn Chavez and last but not least – Women’s golf – also 2nd place and congrats to Coach Riggs. Most of the teams are entering CIF playoffs this week! Good luck to all of our Mustangs!!
 
Women’s Tennis is playing Rio Mesa HS in Ventura this afternoon.
Women’s volleyball is home tomorrow night against Downey HS at 7:00 p.m.
Men’s Water Polo is home on Wednesday against Royal HS 5:00 p.m.
Football is away at Buena Park HS on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
Cross Country has CIF prelims on Saturday.

More Good News - The YLHS band and color guard performed and competed at the Chino Field Tournament last Saturday. Our Mustangs earned 1st place band – high guard, high percussion, high music effect and high visual effect. They placed in the top 6 out of 30 bands in SO Cal 2A division. Tonight they will perform at the South Hills Tournament and Savanna Field Tournament this Saturday. Congratulations and good luck to our Mustang band and guard!!

The YLHS Theatre Department presents - The Diary of Anne Frank starting this Thursday night. The plays runs this week and next from Thursday – Saturday at 7:00 p.m., in addition to a 2:00 matinee on both Saturdays. Try to get out and see our talented actors in this year’s fall drama!!
