Principal's Weekly Update #207

Welcome Back from Thanksgiving Week - Hope everyone had a relaxing time!

Congratulations to the YLHS Band & Guard - for their honors at the SCSBOA Field Championships on Saturday, November 21st. They earned the High Music Sweepstakes award and silver medal for the 2A division! This year’s show, “The Quest” was led by director, Bincins Garcia, and student leaders Rachel Ehlen, Matt Arsenault, Katherine Robison and Nicole Espinoza. It is the highest marching band honor the program has received competing against over 30 high schools in Southern California!! Way to go Mustangs!!
A Big Thank You - to PTSA, staff students and 54 community members who participated in our 2015 Career Day. PATSA Career Day coordinators, Jennifer Johnson, Tammy Brubaker and Shannon Paradzick worked many, many hours to plan and contact our community members that talked with our students about careers education and what it takes to be a successful employee. Guest speakers included the Mayor of Yorba Linda, KTLA meteorologist, Henry D. Carlo, Dr. Colette Inaba, Physician-surgery resident, Superior Court Judge, Charles Clay, along with first responders and local business owners, including Disney and Chick-fil-a. The message was the same – be prepared and “find a career you love – you will never work a day in your life.” Again thank you YLHS PTSA – Sondia Buscaino, President. This was a real team effort from parents, students, teachers, office staff, campus security and custodians to make our annual Career Day
– A Day to Remember.

Did you Hear? - Our PTSA organized the first YLHS Taste of Yorba Linda Taste of Yorba Linda High School on Saturday evening, November 14th. The fundraiser for our PTSA was supported by the following community families and businesses: Blue Agave, Chick-fil-A, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Fitness Grill, green2go, Marie Callender’s, Mustache Mike’s Italian Ice, Oahu Shave Ice, Panda Express, Pepz Pizza, Stefano’s Golden Baked Ham, Trader Joe’s and Yorba Cantina. Music and vocal performances were provided by our Mustang Jazz Band and Choir programs. It was a beautiful evening and LOTS of GREAT FOOD!!
