YLHS Theater Department’s Spring Musical - Claudia and I had the opportunity see our school musical “Legally Blonde, The Musical” over the weekend and it was TERRIFIC!! If you have the opportunity this week make sure you don’t miss it. Great job, Cathy Petz and Theater Arts students!! This week’s performances are March 24 – 25 at 7:00 p.m. and March 26th at 4:00 p.m. FYI – The performances are at the new Performing Arts Center at El Dorado High School.
A Big Thank You to our PTSA Student Leadership - group for a terrific Mustang Pride Day on March 12th. Over 175 students, along with Scott Mazurier and his family, Greg Kemp, Jamie Jauch, our custodial staff and PTSA parents helped clean walkways, pull weeds and wash down the lunch area. The campus looks GREAT!!! Great Spring Cleaning!!
Did you Hear? Dr. Brineger and Ms. Borja from Western Association of Schools and Colleges visited YLHS on Wednesday, March 16th as a one day follow-up to YLHS’s California State Accreditation. They met with district officials, site leadership team, visited classes and talked with student/parent groups. The following report was presented to the staff at the end of the day.
1) The school’s administration and staff have maintained focus on their stated mission and goals and incorporated those into the Action Plan that has focused the school’s program on student progress.
2) The school’s administration and staff have been resourceful and creative in progressing on vital Action Plan goals in the face of changing resources, adapting strategies to utilize available resources to maintain progress.
3) The school’s administration and staff have implemented creative ways to maintain the enthusiasm and support for the school’s mission by recognizing support staff and faculty with achievement awards, despite the numerous changes in district and school administration, faculty and support staff.

The visiting committee described our school with words such as “Outstanding,” “Doing an Amazing Job,” and “Inspirational.” They recognized our work by describing us as a “Model School” and recommending that “Other schools need to come here to see how a school is supposed to run.”
Moving forward, the visiting committee will submit a final copy of their report. They expect to get this report to us by the end of the week. As soon as we get that report, we will provide everyone with a copy. That report will then be submitted to the WASC offices for final approval.
Thank you ALL for your efforts and hard work that you put in everyday for our students. All of you - staff, student and community make YLHS an “amazing” “outstanding” and “model school”.
