Academic Mustang Achievement Awards

On Monday, April 11, the Yorba Linda High School PTSA presented their sixth annual Academic Mustang Achievement Award Ceremony. This program was established by the PTSA to recognize the top scholars attending YLHS. Each spring, the administration submits names of the honorees to the PTSA based on the student’s weighted 4.0 grade point average (GPA). Selected students receive a certificate, and, depending on their year of achievement, either a silver medal, a gold medal, an academic letter or a special four-year medallion to be worn at graduation by seniors who have achieved this award for four consecutive years.

It was a very special evening as the PTSA recognized 443 students, including 126 freshmen, 107 sophomores, 88 juniors and 122 seniors! Forty of the seniors qualified for this award for all four of their high school years at YLHS, which earned them the special four-year medallion.

A highlight of the evening was when YLHS counselors read the accomplishments of the seniors, as well as where they plan on attending college.

The celebration was attended by Principal Dave Flynn, Assistant Principals Jamie Jauch and Greg Kemp, PYLUSD Board Members and district staff, as well as a guest speaker for the evening, Mr. Lloyd Walls. The program was hosted by PTSA President Sondia Buscaino, and was made possible by the PTSA co-chairs for the event, Kimberly Dole and Lynda Wynn, as well as many other PTSA volunteers.
