Principal's Weekly Update #228

2016 Career Day – Wednesday, November 9th - had 45 community members on campus to present a variety of career opportunities and answer student questions regarding their field of expertise. Following the morning schedule, many of your presenters commented on our student participation and that YLHS is a terrific school. “We want to come back next year!” Thank You Miya Kim, PTSA President, Career Day Coordinators, Shannon Paradzick and Nancy Coffman, along with hospitality and PTSA student leadership. It was a terrific morning for students and the YLHS community.
 
2016- PYLUSD High School Showcase – was held at the Yorba Linda Community Center Thursday evening, November 10th. YLHS staff and students had the opportunity to talk with over 400 parents during two presentations of YLHS academics, co-curricular programs, ASB, Mustang Business Academy, Counseling-Student Services, athletics and performing arts. A Big Thank You to:

A New Sheriff in Town - Yorba Linda School Resource Officer (SRO), Neal Holmes has taken a new position as a Tactical Field Training Officer with the OC Sheriff. Deputy Holmes has been a part of our team for the last three years and has been a great resource for not only YLHS but our district as well. I know many of you have had Neal speak in your classroom and he does many parent trainings for YLHS and PYLUSD as well. Congratulations Deputy Holmes on your new assignment and Thank You for your support and guidance over the last three years!
 
Fall Potluck - A Big Thank You to the Language Arts Department and Administration office for the wonderful potluck on Thursday. It was a fun way to enjoy lunch with our friends and co-workers the day before our Thanksgiving holiday week.
 
Congratulations to Coach Bailey and Mustang Football - for their 45 -12 victory over Kaiser HS in the 1st round of CIF play. Good Luck this week as they compete against Garden Grove High School tonight at 7:00 at Garden Grove High School, 11271 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove.
 
Did you Hear? YLHS Band & Guard - under the director of Bincins Garcia, has been very busy this last month.

Winter Theater Production – The Crucible - under the direction of Cathy Petz, opens December 2nd and runs December 3, 8, 10 @ 7:00 p.m. with a matinee at 2:00 p.m. on December 3rd. Evening performance begin at 7:00 p.m. Come out and see our talented YLHS students perform!
