Did You Hear? -  Winter Formal 2017 was a huge success. Over 650 students participated in the event. A Big Thank You to Shea Runge, Colleen Hayashi and ASB for coordinating the dance and for all fo the following staff members who came out on a Saturday night to help check students in and supervise the dance: Greg Kemp, Jamie Jauch, Lorri Walls, Nancy Coutler, Peyton Pike, Kino & Lydia Oaxaca, Bill Ray, Jose Aldama, Sarah & Brian Shay, Kyle Linebarger, Megan Scott, Kelly Fritz, Theresa Maeder & 4 OC Sheriffs. A real TEAM EFFORT for a successful activity!!

Did You Hear? - Three PYLUSD high school students were recognized as “Shining Stars” by the Disneyland Dreamers & Doers program for their commitment and actions in creating a brighter tomorrow. Each “Shining Star” student received two tickets to Disneyland, as well as a $1,000 pay-it-forward grant for their school. The three students were also treated to a celebration luncheon on Saturday, Feb. 25, along with their families and a representative from their school.
Yorba Linda High School - Junior Sarah Heckel created a summer camp at Oak Canyon Nature Center for middle school students, as well as a one-day experience for teens of Project S.A.Y. (Support Anaheim’s Youth) focusing on leadership development, team building and emergency preparedness. The teens also learned archery and wilderness survival skills.
Esperanza High School - Senior Allyson Vuong is the founder of the “Literacy Advocates Club,” whose mission is to nurture an early love of reading and literacy in children.
Valencia High School - Junior May Wang is the founder of “Linens N Love,” a nonprofit organization that collects and donates used hotel linens to local shelters. To date, “Linens N Love” has donated over 8,000 linens to local shelters. Congratulations Allyson, May and Sarah!
Mustang Pride Day – Saturday, March 18th - the YLHS PTSA Student Leadership Group is sponsoring Mustang Pride Day. This is a great opportunity for student groups, club or athletic teams to earn community service hours and give back to the school.
YLHS PTSA Sponsoring Guest Presenters on ”Anxiety and Depression – Your Teen’s Silent Battle” - on Monday, March 6th from 6:30 – 8:00 in the YLHS library. At this informative session, parents will be given tools for identifying anxiety & depression in their teen & tips on supporting their student.
The 2016-2017 PTA/PTSA Reflections Showcase and Award Ceremony - is Monday, March 6th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the PYLUSD PDA Conference Rooms @ 4999 Casa Loma, Yorba Linda.
5:00 p.m. – Early Opening – View recorded Dance Choreography & Film Production entries. Read Literature Entries in the “Library”.
6:00 p.m. – Main Gallery Opens – View Literature, Photography and Visual Arts Entries. Listen to recorded Music Composition entries.
7:00 p.m. – Awards Ceremony – Acknowledging the Top 3 places, per Art category, per age division.
YLHS PTSA Sponsoring Mock SAT/ACT in April - Our PTSA is again sponsoring the Mock SAT/ACT. Language Arts teachers of 9-11th graders, the flyers will be in your mailboxes. Please pass out to your students at your earliest convenience. A Big Thank You to our PTSA for sponsoring these worthwhile programs for our students!
