Principal's Weekly Update #242

District Art Show @ PDA - is open for everyone to see the terrific artwork our students have worked on in class. The show is open on the following dates and times:
* 4/21 – Friday 7:30 am – 4:30 pm
* 4/22 – Saturday 11:00 am – 4:00 pm (Brent and Kelly will be demonstrating their talents)
* 4/24-4/26 – Mon.-Wed. 7:30 am to 8:00 pm
* 4/27 – Thursday 7:30 am – noon
On your way home, take a few minutes to stop and see the talent our students have demonstrated in Art, Ceramics, Photography and Commercial Art. Thank you Brent, Kelly, Carol and Rich!!
 
“Blacklight” Rally – A Big Thank You to Shea Runge, ASB, Bincins Garcia’s drumline and colorguard, Stacy Shube’s Song Leaders, Sabrina & Song Captain for YL Boys & Meshell Maes’ Dance Company for a terrific “blacklight” rally. Great performances by everyone! Congratulations to Rich Cadra for your 2016-17 yearbook dedication!!!
 
Did You Hear?
*  Yorba Linda City Council honored two of ours seniors with a Certificate of Merit last Tuesday evening. Congratulations to Joseph Toubbeh – 2017 Valedictorian and Joseph Byrnes - National Merit Scholar. Mayor Pro-tem Gene Hernandez, along with all the city council members congratulated both boys for outstanding academics and involvement in school athletics and co-curricular programs.
*  Ryan Copeland will be representing YLHS at the Michigan State University Physics of Atomic Nuclear Summer Program held at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory. He is one of 24 students selected from across the nation. He thanks Ms. Luxa & Mrs. Farrell for their support.
*  Natalie Dicken was recognized on Wednesday, April 19th for College Signing Day to the University of Montevallo in Alabama. Natalie signed for her commitment and dedication to women’s lacrosse at YLHS. Congratulations Natalie!!
 
Coffee With the Counselors - on Wednesday, April 19th, over 60 parents were in attendance in our library. The hour long presentation covered district summer school, summer study opportunities and Naviance, a new college and career tool. It finished with an individual question and answer period. A Big Thank You to Lorri Walls, Nancy Coulter, Peyton Pike & JeNell Gandy for providing another way for our parents to “stay connected”.

Graduation Senior Class Visits are Coming - Tuesday, April 25 and Thursday, April 27 in Government & Economics classes, Shea and I will be discussing senior activities and the graduation ceremony, along with the importance of “finishing” the school year strong. This is a very exciting time with lots of topics and expectations to discuss. A Big Thank You to Mr. Lejano, Mr. Honig, Mr. Wall, Mr. Wren & Mrs. Brothers for the time to meet with your classes.
