Common Core Standards
COMMON CORE MATH STANDARDS:
Today’s students are preparing to enter a world in which colleges and businesses are demanding more than ever before. To ensure all students are ready for success after high school, the Common Core State Standards establish clear, consistent guidelines for what every student should know and be able to do in math and English language arts from kindergarten through 12th grade.
The mathematics standards are designed to address the problem of a curriculum that is a mile wide and an inch deep. Rather than racing to cover a lot of topics, we can now focus on standards that build on the best of high-quality math standards from states across the country. Students will learn concepts in a more organized way both during the school year and across grades. The standards focus on developing the critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills students will need to solve real-world problems.
