Every fifteen minutes, someone in the United States dies from an alcohol related traffic collision. Today at YLHS, Juniors and Seniors will be participating in the Every 15 Minutes program. With the support of local emergency services and the CHP, Junior and Senior students will view an accident simulation in front of YLHS on Bastanchury Road. Bastanchury will be closed in front of the school from about 9am until 11am today for the accident simulation.

The REACH Foundation 5th Annual Shamrock N Run was a great success! Thanks to all who participated. We had over 1200 signed up for the run giving over $4500 back to school sites!!! The REACH Foundation will be holding the Middle School Track Meet on April 5, 2017 at Shapell Stadium starting at 5pm. Middle School Students for around the district will compete in this fun event! Yorba Linda High School was represented on February 11th at the San Francisco Chinese New Years Parade. The San Francisco Chinese New Year Festival and Parade is the largest celebration of its kind in the world, attracting over three million spectators and television viewers throughout the U.S., Canada, and Asia, Over 750,000 people line the parade route and the Yorba Linda mustangs received 1 1/2 minutes of televised airtime. Want to learn more about YLHS? All current 8th graders are invited to come to the YLHS Quad for the clubs, sports and activities fair at 6 pm before meeting in the large gym at 7 pm on Wednesday, March 22nd, for the 8th Grade Round-up. 8th graders will stay in the gym for a pep rally while parents meet with counselors and athletic directors about how to plan for high school.

This week was Hour Of Code week where millions of students worldwide take part in events designed to promote computer programming in schools. This week, over 80 students participated in after school coding events in Mr. Eliot's class. Students from Mobile App Development and AP Computer Science classes taught first-time students how to code "Recursive Tree" drawings. Thank you to all that took part in these events!

On November 7th, 2016 Deputy Oates from the OCSD Traffic Office and YLHS Resource Officer Deputy Holmes, will be here to discuss teen driving issues. The presentation will cover traffic safety issues such as DUI, the dangers of speeding, pedestrian safety, bicycle safety, seatbelts, child passenger safety, distracted driving and much more. The YLHS Baseball team is selling Christmas Trees, Wreaths, Swags & Garland. These trees are cut 72 hours before delivery (instead of weeks before Thanksgiving) and will last the whole season. YLHS Aquatics is holding a Goodwill fundraiser this Saturday Oct.8th from 9am-2:30pm in the YLHS parking lot on Bastanchury. Come support us and bring all your donations items between those hours. The Goodwill will give you a donation receipt for tax purposes. NOTE: Goodwill will not accept furniture and baby items such as strollers, car seats, cribs, pack and plays or such items. They will however take baby toys.

In honor of Jack Benson, two-time cancer survivor and 5th grade student at Travis Ranch, the YLHS vs. El Dorado football game will be adopting his cause: Pediatric Cancer Awareness. The first 500 people on the YLHS side will be given a YL t-shirt with a special design commemorating pediatric cancer awareness.
