"On Thursday, March 8, 2018, Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) administrators were made aware of a series of rumored social media threats. Immediately following, District administrators contacted local law enforcement, who then swiftly launched a thorough investigation.

Late Thursday evening, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) determined that there are no credible threats to any PYLUSD school. All PYLUSD schools are open and will observe their respective, normal schedules today, March 9, 2018. Please disregard any sources stating otherwise."

Song Places at Nationals in both Anaheim & Orlando!

Song does it again! Congratulations to varsity song for their terrific showing at NDA Nationals in Orlando, Florida. The team was a finalist in both the pom and jazz categories, and they ended up placing 4th in jazz. This was YLHS's first time ever attending this competition, and finished 4th place competing against the top teams from all over the country. Great job Mustangs!

PYLAA Annual High School Art Competition

Congratulations to the winners in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Art Association (PYLAA) annual high school art competition. Students are in my AP Studio Art - Drawing/Drawing & Painting class. Future Business Leaders of America

YL FLBA Rocks at Competition! Yorba Linda High School Future Business Leaders of America have represented YLHS at various competitive conferences, coming away with achievements that will make all Mustangs proud. On February 10th 2018, 33 members of our chapter competed in events such as Introduction to Business, Business Communications, Economics, Impromptu Speaking, Public Speaking, Entrepreneurship, Global Business and more. National Merit Finalists

Yorba Linda has 2 National Merit Finalist, Shawyun Foroushani and Melody Tang.
Out of 1.6 million students who took the 2016 Preliminary SAT, only 15,000 were selected as finalists. The National Merit Scholarship Program determines approximately 7,500 Finalist who will receive scholarship offers. Congratulations YLHS Mustangs Shawn and Melody for your academic excellence!

Science Olympiad Shines!

Congrats to YLHS Science Olympiad on a successful season! We earned the 2nd most medals. Blake Han and Yihong Sun earned a 5th place medal in the Helicopter event and Dhruv Chaddah and Ryan Lowery earned a 5th place medal in the Optics event.

Miss Placentia and Miss Yorba Linda Scholarship Pageant

Congratulations to Yorba Linda High School student, Bella Vino (12th) for being crowned Miss Placentia 2018 and YLHS student, Paulina Dole (9th), earned the title of Miss Placentia's Outstanding Teen. Senior Luke Wilson honored as an Athlete of Character

Congratulations to senior Luke Wilson for being honored as an Athlete of Character. The Orange County Athletic Directors Association held its annual “Athletes of Character” awards Monday night during a dinner at the Anaheim Convention Center. Thank you Luke for representing YLHS so well!

Students Place Third in US Association of Young Physicists Tournament

AP & Honors Information Night

Can you believe it? It is almost time to begin planning for your child’s first year in high school. We have a special evening planned to provide you with important information regarding our Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) Program. In 2016-17 school year, YLHS students earned a 90% pass rate on AP exams for nearly 1,000 exams taken! 2017 YLHS Mustang Business Expo

Last Thursday, approximately 130 Yorba Linda High School seniors participated in a business expo competition where they presented their business pitch to over 20 judges from the Yorba Linda community. Students worked for over a month developing their business idea, creating prototypes/visuals, researching the market/industry and crafting their business pitch. OC Varsity: Yorba Linda shows its resiliency entering the playoffs

Adversity has been mounting for weeks for Yorba Linda’s football team. But through all the injuries, Yorba Linda (7-3) continued to compete and enters its CIF-SS Division 7 first round playoff game at Monrovia (4-6) on Friday with momentum. Brothers Reunited

I wanted to share with you a special moment that happened yesterday at the freshman football game. Pat Wren, Colin Domene, and Brian Fortenbaugh helped orchestrate a reunion of two brother's. Thursday afternoon, right before kickoff of the freshmen football game vs. Canyon, Pat Wren called out his captains. This every game occurrence does not usually take more than 30 seconds, but when Coach Wren called Edward Arciniega and his brother ( Army Specialist Matthew Carter) as a captain, the moment became quite special. Unbeknownst to Arciniega, his brother who had just flown home after spending ten months fighting in Mosul, Iraq, was right behind him. Disney Dreamers and Doers Application due October 13th

The Disneyland Resort is looking for outstanding Orange County high school students to participate in the Disneyland Resort Dreamers & Doers program! This recognition program celebrates the power of possibility and honors students who are taking action to improve their communities and schools through four focus areas: Strengthen Communities, Think Creatively, Conserve Nature and Live Healthier. Vietnam War Veteran's Ceremony and Reception

Last night's Vietnam War Veterans ceremony was truly remarkable. The collaborative efforts of staff and students, along with the the Vietnam War veterans that relived unimaginable memories for the sake of our students' education, truly made for one of the most impressive educational experiences that I have had the pleasure to witness. OC Register: Vietnam veterans share their journey with YLHS students

The OC Register has a great article about the YLHS Vietnam Veteran's project recently undertaken by a number of YLHS staff and students. More than 80 Yorba Linda High students heard the stories of 28 veterans as part of “Portraits of Courage,” a U.S. history project designed to examine the impact of the Vietnam War on the men and women who lived through the fighting. AP Information Night, May 31st, 2017

AP Summer Homework for 2017 will be discussed at the AP Assignment night on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, @ 6:30pm. Click for a flyer. If the AP student misses this evening it is up to them to contact the teacher to pick up the homework. Honors students should not attend this evening.

This plan describes how districts intends to meet annual goals for all students, English learners, low income students and foster youth. The 6th Annual YLHS Art Show will be Thursday May 25th and Friday May 26th. The opening reception is Thursday May 25th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Student artworks will include drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, pottery, animation, and graphic design. See amazing student works of art up close!

AP Macro students congratulate AP Language test takers

A neat thing happened as my AP Macro kids were getting ready to go in to take their AP exam yesterday. Britni Hull asked me, "Mr. Lejano, can we form a tunnel and cheer for the AP Lang kids as they walk out of their test?" Reno Jazz Results

Reno Jazz Festival Results!! Jazz 1(Varsity) 3rd in AA. Jazz 2 (JV) 4th in APII. Reno Jazz Festival is the largest Festival in the Western United States. This year over 350 groups from US and Australia compete in the area of jazz. PYLUSD is well represented by having all 4 high schools in attendance!! FBLA Places at State, Qualifies for Nationals!

YLHS FBLA is making it's mark at state level competition second year in a row. FBLA State Leadership Conference was held April 6th through 9th in Sacramento at the Sacramento Convention Center. Boys tennis athlete of the week: Ryan Yang

The Mustangs senior went 7-1 last week in team wins over El Dorado, Canyon and Villa Park. As Yorba Linda’s top singles player, Yang has compiled a 39-7 record to this point in the season and is a major reason why the Mustangs (15-1) are ranked as the No. 1 team in Division 2.
