Academic Mustang Achievement Award (AMAA)
Academic Mustang Achievement Award Criteria
The Academic Mustang Achievement Award is a program established by the PTSA of Yorba Linda High School to recognize the top scholars attending YLHS. Each spring, the administration submits the names of the honorees to the PTSA, based on the students’ weighted 4.0 grade point average. All honors classes are weighted. Eligibility will be based on the student’s GPA at the time of the AMAA award event.
Honoree Criteria:
Freshman: 4.0 or higher weighted GPA from the 1st-semester grades are used to determine the freshman honorees
Sophomores: 4.0 or higher weighted GPA for 2nd semester of freshman year AND 4.0 or higher weighted GPA from the 1st semester of the sophomore school year are used to determine the sophomore honorees
Juniors: 4.0 or higher weighted GPA for 2nd semester of the sophomore year AND 4.0 or higher weighted GPA from the 1st semester of the junior school year are used to determine the junior honorees
Seniors: Recognition may be achieved in either of two ways:
- 4.0 or higher weighted GPA for 2nd semester of the junior year AND 4.0 or higher weighted GPA from the 1st semester of the senior school year
OR
- To honor their entire body of work at YLHS, recognition can be based on their cumulative weighted GPA of 4.0 or higher for their three and a half years at YLHS (freshman through 1st semester of their senior year)
The honorees will receive awards based on the following:
- A certificate will be awarded to first-year recipients
- A certificate will be awarded to second-year recipients
- An academic letter and a certificate will be awarded to third-year recipients
- A certificate and a special four-year medallion, to be worn at graduation, are presented to those students who have earned the Academic Mustang Achievement Award for all four years at Yorba Linda High School
The Academic Mustang Achievement Award program is sponsored by the YLHS PTSA. This program is solely funded by donations from our community and the generosity of interested parents.
